The Best Sleep Position for a Happier Back

August 26, 2026•1 min read

How you sleep can make a big difference in how your back feels the next morning.

Most people do best sleeping on their side with a pillow between their knees. This helps keep your hips and spine in a more neutral position. If you prefer sleeping on your back, try putting a pillow under your knees to take some pressure off your lower back.

Stomach sleeping is usually the hardest on the spine, so if you can gently train yourself out of it, your back will often thank you.

You don’t need a perfect setup — just a couple small changes with pillows can help you wake up feeling less stiff.
